Getting married is pretty easy in Las Vegas and it’s going to be even easier at the end of 2023, Instead of going to the chapel, people can go to the airport. Specifically, Terminal 1 near baggage claim at Harry Reid International Airport.

That is becaue Clark County Clerk Lynn Marie Goya is opening a pop-up Marriage License Bureau during New Year’s Eve Week in Las Vegas. It will be open Dec. 26- Dec. 31 and that’s right, it’s at the airport. It avoids having to go the downtown office as it will issue marriage licenses and vow renewal certificates. It will accept credit card or debit payments. Couples will also receive an exclusive NYE-themed gift.

Already the Marrigae Capitol of the World, Vegas experiences a surge on certain rare dates.  Dec. 31, 2023 –  12/31/23 – includes the rare numerical sequence of 1-2-3-1-2-3, it is considered an especially appealing date by many planning their nuptials and, consequently, area chapels are experiencing high bookings for that date. This is the fifth time the Clerk’s Office will open a temporary Marriage License Bureau at the airport.

“We always strive to make the process as easy as possible for couples, and bringing the pop-up marriage license bureau to the airport streamlines the process for couples allowing them more time to experience Las Vegas’ wonderful New Year’s Eve excitement. New Year’s Eve is already one of Las Vegas’ most popular wedding dates, and adding the magic date of 1-2-3-1-2-3 gives couples even more to celebrate on this historic night,” said Lynn Marie Goya, Clark County Clerk.

Throughout Las Vegas wedding history, unique numerical patterns—often called “magic dates”—have continually proven to be the most popular dates for nuptials. Las Vegas’ most popular wedding date in history occurred on 7/7/2007. It became known as the “Lucky 7s” day when 4,492 couples were married. The second most popular wedding date in history occurred on 11/11/2011 when 3,125 couples were married. Last year, 2/22/22 also became the sixth most popular wedding date in the city’s history with 2,331 weddings.

Couples coming to Las Vegas to get married are encouraged to fill out a marriage license pre-application, which can be found through the County Clerk’s website at weddings.vegas. After completing the application online, the couple will be issued a reference number that they can show to the Deputy Clerk at any branch of the Marriage License Bureau. Couples seeking a marriage license need to show proper identification, such as a driver’s license or passport (a complete list of allowed identification and other information is available through the Clerk’s web page). Marriage licenses cost $102. The Marriage License Bureau, a division of the Clark County Clerk’s Office, issues about 80,000 marriage licenses annually and is the busiest in the world.

Couples may still get their marriage license or vow renewal certificate at the Marriage License Bureau’s main office at 201 E. Clark St. in downtown Las Vegas, open from 8 a.m.-Midnight every day, including during the holidays. The main office is on the south side of the Regional Justice Center just three blocks south of the Fremont Street Experience.
