Traverse City Restaurant Week Features More Than 35 Northwest Michigan Restaurants

Vietnamese shaking beef, coconut cod tacos and smoked shrimp and grits – would you believe you can find this variety of food in Michigan?

You can and they are all special items that are part of the 2023 Traverse City Restaurant Week, which starts Sunday, Feb. 26, at three dozen northwest Michigan restaurants.

Restaurant Week puts the spotlight on a variety of eateries that offer special three and four-course meals at set price points of $25, $35 and $45. “It’s a way that restaurants get exposed to people that may not be regular supporters, but can become regular customers,” said Stuart Hickman, Vice President of Mammoth Distilling.

Mammoth is different than most participating restaurants, since they are mostly a spirits tasting room and don’t normally offer daily meals. During Restaurant Week they offer dinners created by Fork and Fire Catering.

Hickman said they work with the chef to create a menu that pairs with their spirits. “We want a menu to reflect local ingredients, and more of an upscale dining option, to match our hand-hewn products that include whiskey, vodka, gin and rum,” said Hickman. They will serve a $45 four-course meal with the main entrée that includes flank steak, achiote roasted chicken or monkfish.

Mammoth will extend Restaurant Week for a few extra days, with the specials ending March 9th. The official Restaurant Week ends March 4th.

“Traverse City has such a diverse selection of dining and Restaurant Week becomes a great way to explore different options,” said Trevor Tkach (Tah-koch), President of Traverse City Tourism. Tkach adds Restaurant Week is also a way to support local workers during a normally slower season of the year.
