Blogger’s Party Bucket List Destination For April 28-May 1

Let’s party!
Here’s where I want to do it the weekend of April 28-May 1: New Orleans for the Jazz & Heritage Festival.
Otherwise known to partiers simply as New Orleans Jazzfest, this is a perfect combination of an outdoor beer-drinking event, a potential singles pickup party and live bands heaven.
The lineup this second week of Jazzfest includes Elvis Costello & The Imposters, Buddy Guy, Elvin Bishop (an awesome blues guitarist who was a PubClub.com highlights from one Jazzfest) and a 50th anniversary performance of “Alice’s Restaurant” with Arlo Guthrie.
But really, Jazzfest is about more – much more – than the music.
It’s just the roux in the gumbo, so to speak, for it’s held on the infield of a horserace track and you spend the day filling your cooler up with beers and ice (one of PubClub’s top Jazzfest tips is to bring in a collapsable cooler), walking around from stage to stage listening to great music and partying with strangers.
You plop down your stuff at a location by one of the stages – don’t worry, nobody will steal anything and even your new “neighbors” will watch it for you – and use that spot as your home base for the day.
There’s no hurry to be anywhere so you wander around constantly with a beer in your hand smiling, laughing and, if you’re on your game, collecting phone numbers to meet out people of the opposite sex later that night.
But don’t get hammered during the daytime, for neighbors are drinking and partying in the street by a bar just outside the fairgrounds, which is sometimes more fun than the actual Jazzfest.
And don’t get too hammered there, because then you’ve got the French Quarter and Bourbon Street all night!
Once you go to Jazzfest, you’ll know before the day is half over why it’s a party Bucket List item.
