
During their time in the New Mexico desert, J. Robert Oppenheimer and his team frequently retreated from The Hill to drink, dine, dance and decompress at the La Fonda on the Plaza hotel in Santa Fe. Today, you can not only visit that hotel but take part in a “Spies, Lies and Nukes,” conferencce in which a special “Atomic Martini” will be served.
Hosted by former Covert CIA Ops Officer Valerie Plame the dates are Nov. 10 – 12. The event is open to the public.
At this third, enhanced running of Spies, Lies & Nukes, Plame and some of her highly decorated CIA colleagues will pull back the curtain on the real life “wilderness of mirrors” that is international espionage.
Attendees can hear from and engage with the best of CIA’s spies to better understand today’s world: from emergent threats, to never-before-told spy operations, black market nuclear scams, how to recruit a spy, the growth of domestic terrorism, how social media is used in espionage, and keeping employees and companies safe from foreign spies. Tickets (available here) are $1300 through Nov.2 and $1500 Nov. 3 – 10, and include breakfasts, lunches, a VIP reception and all programs and activities.
