Old Glory Distilling Company In Clarksville To Have Craft Cocktails, Beer & Food Trucks

The Great American Eclipse, the total eclipse of the sun, takes place on Monday, Aug. 21. Its path cuts right across several rural areas from Oregon to South Carolina. And small towns along its route are jumping to take advantage of it.
In the case of Clarksville, in middle Tennessee, it isi the town’s distillery that’s hosting the party. Old Glory Distilling Company is holding an All-American Total Solar Eclipse Party on the distillery grounds. It goes from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
The moon will begin to eclipse the sun at 11:57 a.m., and the total solar eclipse is expected to occur in Clarksville at 1:26 p.m.
The event includes live music by the Joel Brown Band, food trucks, special edition craft cocktails, beer and games.
“We hope all our neighbors, and anyone that has heard about the distillery but has not made the short trip to Clarksville to see this as a perfect day to visit,” said owner and distiller Matt Cunningham. “We’re making this a full day event so bring your lawn chairs, blankets, dogs if they are people friendly and spend the day.”
He added: “our tasting bar will be open mixing up craft cocktails and beer while food trucks will be serving up their fare all day.”
Cunningham may be in more than he bargained for; some people have been planning for this event for years and some small-town hotel rooms filled up as long as three years ago. Towns that have populations of 15,000 or or are expecting as many as five times that number of visitors.
Many towns are charging visitors to sit in parks or other spaces to experience this rare moment of daytime darkness. The last eclipse in the USA was in 1979 and the next one is not until October of 2023.
At Old Glory, people have the option to rent a private 15’ x 15’ VIP Lawn Space which seats four people. Multiple spaces can be reserved together for larger groups. Included with each reservation is be one special recipe limited edition bottle of Solar Shine, one commemorative All-American Total Solar Eclipse tee-shirt, one parking pass, four pairs of solar eclipse viewing glasses and four drink special wristbands for attendees (age 21 and up).
Outside alcohol is prohibited. Coolers may be brought to the event but are subject to inspection. The VIP Lawn Space is $75 and available for purchase at at the distillery or through Eventbrite.com.
Old Glory Distilling Company sits alongside Interstate 24 at Clarksville’s Exit 4.
