Rock-N-Roar Concert Is Saturday Night, April 20 In Long Beach, CA
He’s got rock, and he’s certainly got roar.
Bret Michaels, who is making headlines for a supposed “meltdown” after being eliminated from this season’s “Celebrity Apprentice” show, will be looking to melt some metal as he’s playing the Saturday night ‘Rock-N-Roar’ concert Saturday night during the 39th annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach in Long Beach, CA.
This is a free show to anyone with a ticket to the Grand Prix, and it will take place on April 20, at 6:45 p.m.
Michaels continues the Grand Prix tradition of rock ‘n roll legends who play on the stage in front of the Performing Arts Center after a full day of racing. Saturday is the Toyota Pro/Celebrity race, IndyCar qualifying, the American LeMans race and, new this year, Formula Drifting at night. In fact, the Drifting competition, which runs from 7-9 p.m., will be occurring simultaneously with the concert.
“As a race fan and major car and motorcycle enthusiast I am honored to be asked to play the concert at this year’s Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach on Saturday, April 20th,” said Michaels. “I have been to the Grand Prix several times and it was awesome. I promise I’ll bring a concert and party that will rock your world.”
In January, Michaels released a new single, “You Know You Want It” from his upcoming album, “Good Songs And Good Friends,” featuring collaborations with some of the top artists from a variety of genres and, in May, his new TV show, “Rock My RV” will debut on The Travel Channel.
In March, he was let go from NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice” in favor of La Toya Jackson, something he had won in the show’s third season in 2009, but that will have no impact on his Grand Prix performance. In fact, it may even enhance it.
The concert is the primary post-day destination for many of the party people at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. They will up the area around the fountains and rock out to the rock music. There are stations selling beer because, well, you can’t have rock without beer.
The Grand Prix itself is a three-day party. Well, four if you count the Thursday Thunder block party on Pine, which features pit stop demonstrations right on the street and the Miss Grand Prix pageant. It’s April 19-21.
