The Infield & Snakepit Lead The Experience
By Kevin Wilkerson, PubClub.com Party Blogger
And not just the Indy 500 but the Indy 500 infield.
It’s called the Snakepit and it’s a party. So much of a party that I doubt anyone knows what is happening on the track. Or, really cares. THAT is when you have yourself an event.
There’s a concert (in 2016 it’s a trio of electronic music DJs). A waterslide. Beer bongs. And lots of single people!
Okay, I admit most of my Bucket List items involve single people partying somewhere in the world. Another infield, by the way, that’s on my list is the Kentucky Derby.
But let’s talk the Indy 500.
A photographer friend sent PubClub.com some pics and that’s all the inspiration I needed to put the event on my World Bucket List.
He sent photos of good-looking girls in bikini tops, of a sea of people as far as the eye could see, of girls rolling down a huge waterslide, and of people consuming beer at a pace that matches the speed of the cars flying around the racetrack.
The infield is actually two different huge parties in one.
There’s the Snakepit (mostly college students, from what I can gather and that’s certainly okay by me) and a group that pops down the tailgate of their pickup truck, pulls out a keg, sets up a BBQ and has a beer-drinking picnic in Turn 4.
I would like to experience both because that’s what Bucket List items are all about – maximizing the experience.
Cheers!
