Triple Crown Races Have Sky-High Admission Costs To Party
If you want to go to the Kentucky Derby – and the wild infield scene should be on your party Bucket List – it’s going to cost you.
The General Admission ticket price, which you need to get into that wild infield party, is $80. Or $75 if you buy it in advance.
Eighty dollars. Most horse tracks charge $5-$10 to see a race. Granted, there’s no other horse race quite like the Kentucky Derby, but that’s a steep price to pay to go to a party.
But here’s the thing: it’s best deal of the Triple Crown races.
The Preakness, which has nowhere near the same infield party, is $79. In fact, in order to try and make an Kentucky Derby-ish party scene, it has brought in DJs to try and make it like an outdoor Las Vegas nightclub.
It even has a name for it, called InfieldFest and the 2019 lineup features Norwegian DJ, producer and songwriter Kygo, who holds the world record for fastest 1 billion streams on Spotify and has been listed on DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJ’s List for four years in a row. Also in the lineup is Maryland native and three-time GRAMMY nominated rap artist Logic.
The Belmont Stakes GA/infield ticket is a whopping $85 at the Belmont Stakes. It brings in a DJ and has a craft beer garden.
So while the price is steep to get into the the Kentucky Derby infield, it’s an event you’ll remember for a long time and maybe won’t mind dropping 80 bucks to go back to the next year.
