NYE Celebration Includes Fireworks In The Mountain & A DJ Dancing Fountain In the City

At the top, on the Nordkette mountain high above Innsbruck, are fireworks. visitors will be enchanted by a traditional firework display. At the bottom, there are dancing fountains with a DJ and full-on party scene.
The whole extravanza is called Bergsilvester, or New Year’s Eve in the Mountains and the motto is “The World Visits Innsbruck.”
The fireworks take place at 2000 metres (6,500 feet) while in town, fountains reaching up to 70 metres (230feet) high in a light, water, mist and sound show. At midnight, a traditional waltz is played and people (who know how to waltz) dance. This is Austria, after all.
The DJ starts at 10 p.m., but the party starts much earlier. At 11:30 a.m., there are New Year drinks with Dixie Brass Band Tirol in Old Town. This goes until 2 p.m. At 4, there’s a run through Innsbruck with the evening activities getting underway at 6 p.m., with lounge music playing as people walk along the illuminated River Inn.
