Best NYE Cities & Events Worldwide To Meet Your Match (For The Night At Least)
After all, it’s great to end the year and start the new one by meeting someone new. Of course, in order to take advantage of these places and situations, you need to smile a lot, show a sense of style and have a good gift of gab.
1.) New Orleans
Bourbon Street is the place to be to pick up girls on New Year’s Eve. Everyone is partying and many have that essential “pick-up mentality.” You don’t even have to go into a bar because you can get drinks on the street. 2.) Sydney
The fireworks over Harbor Bridge are great; get there in the early evening (by at least 7) to Opera Bar and with thousands of people around you, your odds of scoring are pretty good.
3.) Berlin
There’s a huge public party at the Brandenburg Gate with fireworks and about a hundred thousand people. The key here is to have a few bars in the proximity scouted out beforehand and if you meet someone, go there after the fireworks to let the romance, well, explode.
4.) Key West, FL
The Conch Republic is the ideal “meet by day, meet out by night” New Year’s Eve location. Everyone in town is going to pass through Sloppy Joe’s at some point, so be poised there late afternoon and if that doesn’t work for some reason, just patrol Duval Street. 5.) Ski Resorts
Single! Ski resorts are great place to meet single people and for NYE you can catch people in an ultra-party mode. Maybe you’ll meet a girl or guy on the lifts – “single!” – or in the apres bar where you can plan to meet up later.
If you really want to party (and meet people) go to a ski resort in Austria. Innsbruck, in fact, is having what it is calling “The Most Spectacular New Year’s Eve In The Alps.”
6.) Las Vegas (The Strip)
Tens of thousands of people – many of them single – are all up and down The Strip for the outdoor fireworks. The best places to be are by the Bellagio Fountains and in front of Planet Hollywood. Note the casinos lock their doors from about 11:30-12:30 so be sure and plan your bathroom needs accordingly. After the fireworks, then a lot of the bars along The Strip that were charging big covers beforehand suddenly loosen up, so find a fun one.
Don’t bother with the Fremont Street Experience. It’s mostly older people, couples and locals who go home after the canopy show. The place is deserted by 1 a.m., and the casinos are not full of lovely ladies. Or girls, sugar daddys.
7.) Good House Parties
PubClub.com loves good house parties for New Year’s Eve. And by good we mean one with lots of people but not too many people to where you can’t mingle. You should also know then host or someone who knows the host, there should be a few people you know but a lot you don’t know, too so you can meet anyone whom interests you. Ask around among your friends if someone knows of a good house party for New Year’s Eve. It could turn out to be a memorable NYE.
8.) NOT Big-Dollar Promoter Parties Or Nightclubs
While scoring at these events is quite possible, generally speaking they are not as solid opportunities at the other places listed here. One reason is that there’s too much to complain about – high drink prices, long waits to get a drink or into the bathroom, caddy confrontations among women – and if you encounter someone with a complainer in their group all your efforts you have have put in earlier will end when the lights come up, leaving you frustrated and alone.
