The Annual Event, Hosted by Bud Light and Team Magnum P.I., Proves Volleyball Players Can Bring The Heat to The Partying Scene
And the time they do it best is after tournaments.
One of the great highlights of living in the LA South Bay Beach Cities of Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach are the Sunday night players parties after the AVP (well, when there was an AVP), Hermosa Open and Manhattan Open and after the Surfest-6-man.
They are put on by Bill Sigler of Smack Sportswear and head of multi-time 6-man winner Team Magnum p.i. And they are among the most fun bar times of the entire year.
Sangria is one of the few South Bay bars – certainly the only one at the Pier – that is large enough to host this affair. It has a patio and two rooms for dancing. one first with a band and the other with a DJ. The scene after the 2011 6-man was like a cool European bar, guys in tank tops and short, girls in bikinis, dancing and drinking as if there was no tomorrow. Paradise Beach in Mykonos came to immediately to mind (and that’s a very good thing!).
It was wild, it was crazy and it was fun. It was also under control because despite their heavy partying, volleyball players also know how to party. They are veterans. Nobody was acting stupid, trying to incite a fight or doing anything else to cause trouble.
And that’s why these are the best parties at the beach.
And there’s two more coming in August and September with two pro tournaments in Manhattan and Hermosa.
