5 Reasons Super Bowl Parties Are Better Than Bars

Singles Scene Is Best At Party Houses

Super Bowl Sunday is one of the biggest party – and social – days of the year.

Especially for single people.

But where do you go to watch the game, a bar or a house party? For PubClub.com, the choice is clear. Here’s five reasons we prefer house parties over bars for the Super Bowl.

1.) More Singles Are At House Parties

Super Bowl house parties are also Solo red cup parties.

House parties are gatherings of friends and friends of friends, and that means they are full of single people. Especially girls; bars tend to be heavier on guys. Of course, if guys suspect there may be single girls at a particular house party, they will go to that house party.

So it works out for single people of both sexes.

2.) House Parties Are More Social

At a bar, people tend to be focused on the game. The sound is up loud and the action on the field dominates the scene.

At house parties, it’s all about, well, the party. You go socialize in the kitchen. You socialize in a hallway or another room, such as a patio or deck.

At house parties, the game is secondary to socializing with people of the opposite sex. Only when you want to peek in at the score do you actually find a TV to catch part of the game.

Or to watch the halftime show. And even that is social because it provides a great ice-breaker line to approach that girl or guy you’ve been eyeing since you arrived and didn’t know quite what to say to start a conversation.

3.) House Parties Are Cheaper Than Bars

At a house party, about your only expense is the beer, wine or liquor you bring to it.

Most of the costs are absorbed by the hosts (of course, you “pay” them back by hosting your own party later in the year). Most parties have plenty of food and extra drinks – really good ones even have run things like ice luges – so you’re not running up a huge credit card bill as you do at a bar.

Just don’t be a mooch!

4.) Bars Have Surge Pricing On Super Bowl Sunday

Like Uber, many bars have surge pricing on Super Bowl Sunday. They lure you in with all kinds of cheap (or cheaper) food and drink specials earlier in the day, but most of those conveniently expire at the start of the game.

Of course, by that time it’s too late to do anything about it, such as relocate, so you’re stuck with paying whatever the bar charges the rest of the day or night.

5.) Parties Start Before The Game And Go On After The Game

Super Bowl parties get going early and often go late, sometimes well after the game. At a bar, you may have to get there early to be sure you have a seat or table, but bars don’t really fill up until maybe an hour before the game. And when it’s over, people close up their tabs and leave.

House parties have one other key advantage over bars. If its lame – or doesn’t have enough single people – you probably know about one or two more parties. If they are close enough together, you can party hop from one to another.

Just be sure and wind up at the best party (and that is, of course, the one with the most single people) at the end of the game. Because it can go on well into the night.
