Fans Also Not Excited About Thursday Night Pac-12 Encounter

There’s not been much for USC fans to be excited about this season – other than the firing of Coach Lane Kiffin – and they are not at all excited about having to play a game on a Thursday night.
First, there’s LA traffic, it’s at night and, well, it’s on a Thursday instead of a Saturday.
And now, USC has sent out an e-mail to alumni telling people there will be no on-campus tailgate partying allowed. It has to do with it being a school night.
There will still be the alumni tailgating areas at the Coliseum, but the best tailgating at USC games is on campus. The area around Tommy Trojan is where the students hang out, as well as most of the 20s and 30s tailgaters. The older alumni prefer the Coliseum.
An hour before kickoff, which is at 7:30 p.m., the band and Song Girls will still march through campus into the stadium. It’s a cool pre-game ritual. To see it, line up at Tommy Trojan.
That may be the lone bright spot in the night for Trojan fans. In addition to a team that has managed to lose a game when it gave up just 10 points and also when it scored 42, here’s something else that will keep the crowd away for the game: It may rain.
Trojans fans would like to send a message to the Pac-12 about these Thursday night home games: Use them for the likes of Utah and Washington State, not USC.
