Promotion Could Never Happen in America, But The New M Brand Got in the Hands of Lucky Canadians

Molson, in an effort to promote its a new beer called M, was handing out king cans – extra large! – in front of the CBC headquarters in Toronto on July 14. Yes, free beer, handed out like water and energy drinks in the States. M is a pale lager in a black can with silver trim.
Wow, just imagine if Budweiser were to give passers-by full beers of its cool red-white-and-blue cans it put on shelves and in bars for the Fourth of July.
Americans would act like fools, of course. Not because we like beer more than Canadians – that’s impossible! – but because we’re denied such things in the first place.
Canadians treated it as a special “oh, look at that” treat. Americans would be climbing all over each other and Twitter and Facebook posts would create a human stampede.. Canada has one of those too stampedes, in Calgary. It’s a big party.
The way to avoid a stampede, other than an organized one like in Calgary, is to take the “sinfulness” out of things like beer and alcohol. Treat it casual and it will cool the rebel nature in people.
The drinking age in Canada is 19, and 18 in Quebec.
