World’s Top Imported Dark Rum Earns Status From Bilan Carbone License
The high-quality Dominican Republic rum has become the first rum in the world to reach the carbon neutral status based on the Bilan Carbone® License.
Not just a rum, all products and byproducts in the spirit’s creation are used towards creating something new:
- 100% of the energy their production plant uses is generated through the biomass cogeneration boiler, which allows the distillery to be self-sustaining!
- Bagasse – a residual by-product obtained in the grinding phase – is turned to vapor, which turns the turbines and generates electricity used in the factories
- The Co2 resulting from the fermentation phase of the sugar cane juice is recovered through a third party and marketed to companies in the soft drink segment
- The Vinasse, obtained in the first phase of distillation, is a liquid by-product composed of organic matter, yeast, non-fermentable sugars, proteins, carbohydrates, minerals, ashes and others, which will be used in the fertigation of the fields, after a treatment of temperature and acidity
Ron Barceló is the world’s #1 exported dark rum and the only rum from the Dominican Republic distilled directly from the juice of fresh cut, estate grown sugar cane (and not from molasses).
Cheers!
