Peter’s Brand In Trader Joe’s Is The Two Buck Chuck Of Brews
Without having to drink crappy beer.
The best beer bargain in America is a little-known beer served at a place known more for its wines: Trader Joe’s.
The beer is Peter’s Brand Classics. It’s a lager from Germany and cost just $5.99 for a six-pack. And that’s not all – it’s a 6-pack of tallboys! That’s right, you can get a six-pack of 16-ounce beers for six bucks.
The beer quality is good, and in fact Peter’s Brand is a fine lager. It has no bitterness, no aftertaste and certainly none of the nastiness that causes one to make the grimacing faces one normally associates with cheap beer.
This happens to be a cheap beer but not a cheap-quality beer.
It’s a golden color, and is a somewhat light-tasting lager – so you can drink a lot of them! – but with flavor. In that regard, it’s similar to Stella Artois. At about half the price. It is brewed by Hofbrauhaus Wolters in Baunschweig, Germany.
Trader Joe’s also has a few generic-looking lagers for $3.99 a six-pack but PubClub.com has yet to try those beers. It also sells a very good German beer, Bitburger, for $5.99. Tho those are the regular-sized 12-ounce cans.
PubClub had several Bitburgers while in the Greek Islands, so we know that is a tasty lager, too.
But at home, the bargain beer of choice is Peter’s; it’s also excellent for throwing parties. You won’t spend a ton of money and people will like the beer.
If you don’t have a TJ’s in your area, you’ll have to do with this beer what you do with its Two Buck Chuck when you get to one of its stores in another city: stock up on it.
