#BeerLovers Get More Choices In More Bars

When A-B InBev purchased Chicago craft beer maker Goose Islands, many beer lovers cringed.
Here was another big company buying up the competition to silence it. This once-beloved beer would now became a watered-down Budweiser.
But that’s not been the case. While significantly increasing production, Goose Island has maintained its quality and is also widely available throughout the U.S.
Craft beer loves in California can get Goose Island in several bars. And that’s what will happen with Golden Road, a craft beer purchased by A-B. You could barely get it in Los Angeles previously, let alone outside of it.
Now, Golden Road will be available on a wide scale. You’ll be seeing its tap handles in bars throughout California, the West and, eventually, probably on the East Coast and South.
That’s why this purchase is good for beer drinkers – it provides more choices in more places.
This also happened when A-B took over the distribution of Craft Beer Alliance, which produces Red Hook, Widmer and Kona. You can now get at least one of those beers in most bars and 6- and 12-packs are in practically every supermarket and beer store.
So the next time a major beer company purchases a small brewery, don’t wince. Raise your glass and give it a cheers because you may soon be drinking that beer.
