The Great Beerd Run, A 5K With Beers In Route, Among Highlights For TCBW

If you like to combine your beer drinking with fun events, then you might want to consider gong to Traverse City, Michigan.
It has an entire week devoted to beer and beer drinking, and one event is a 5K that involves drinking beer during the run. That actually combines PubClub.com’s mantra of “exercise and socialize” when it comes to doing a physical activity followed by something like a beer garden.
This event – called the Great Beerd Run – is part of the Traverse City Beer Week, which goes from Nov. 10-17.
The “run” is Nov. 11, at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa.
Other events include the 4th annual TC Ale Trial Challenge, a contest between 10 Traverse City breweries; for $30 you get to be a judge. There is also a beer tour of local breweries in which you get three tastes and a do-your-own pub crawl in which you go to participating bars and restaurants to drink select brews and receive a stamp at each place to get a t-shirt (Nov. 10).
But it’s the Great Beerd Run that is the most intriguing event. It’s an untimed run with on-course beer tastings featuring Beards Brewery, Short’s Brewery and Right Brain Brewery.
There will also be a post-race Beer Tent featuring a Best Beard Contest, race grub, music, and beer.
The $40 registration fee includes race entrance, a knitted beard beanie, a bottle opener style race medal, three beer samples and one glass of beer during the post-race party. If you have your own beard, registration is $25.
Prizes will be awarded for the First Place Male and Female as well as for Best Natural Beard and Best Assisted Beard.
Sounds fun to us!
Traverse City is located in northern Michigan on the shores of Lake Michigan’s Grand Traverse Bay. So if you go, dress for the cold weather, tho the beers may help keep you warm.
