Wine travel is a trend that is growing like grapes on a vine. Wine lovers are discovering places like Switzerland and Baja, California, as well as more familar places around the globe.
It doesn’t matter whether you are trying Paso Robles red wine or you are a crisp white, you get a chance to enjoy wine from various regions. Wine plus travel? It’s a perfect pairing.
And it it involves more than just visiting wineries to taste wines. It’s a total expeirence and is something that is going to continue into the future. Karissa Kruse, CEO & President of Sonoma County Winegrowers shares her insight on what is driving travelers to wine destinations like Sonoma County in 2024.
“It goes beyond enjoying what is on the plate or in the glass, but is about meeting the makers, the farmers, the chefs and understanding their values,” Kruse said, adding that wine lovers are seeking destinations that “give you a purpose.”
She calls this kind of travel a “blended experience,” which is to say it blends wine tasting with expeirences of the area and at the wineries.
