Nearly A Billion Bottles Or Charles Shaw Wines Have Been Sold At TJs

Two Buck Chuck, the venerable cheap wine that’s good enough to drink and even brag about and use at house parties, turned 15 in 2017. Introduced by Trader Joe’s in 2012 it’s become one of the most popular wines of all time.
“Yes, it’s true,” Trader Joe’s stated in its May Fearless Flyer newsletter. “Fifteen years since we first introduced what would quickly be dubbed ‘Two Buck Chuck’ by wine drinkers across the country. Fifteen years since the world went a bit bonkers for these crazy-value-priced wine.
“In that time, we’ve sold close to a billion bottles of the various varietals. Yes, with a ‘b.” There’s good reason. We think they’ve proven – consistently, over a decade and a half – that wine doesn’t need to be expensive to be good, drinkable and enjoyable.”
It goes on to state that “they are not expensive, they are good; they’re very drinkable and we’ll attest to their eminent enjoyability as well!”
We will too, here at PubClub.com, and in fact, always have a couple bottles on hand to enjoy on our own or if any visitor drops by who wants some wine.
The brand is Charles Shaw and it comes in Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Chardonnay, Pino Grigio, White Zinfandel and Sauvignon Blanc. It is our opinion that the reds are by far better than the whites and we certainly don’t mind drinking them or serving to guests.
Originally priced at just $2 a bottle – thus the nickname – they are now $2.00 at Trader Joe’s stores nationwide.
So here’s a big cheers to Charles Shaw, Trader Joe’s and Two Buck Chuck! You can almost hear the wine glasses clinging to that “cheers.”
