Annual International Music and Food Set for April 9, 2011
When one thinks of a college town, a place like Tuscaloosa, Athens or Bloomington may first come to mind.
But in Southern California, right in the heart of Los Angeles, there are several college towns. One of them is Claremont, and it holds an annual music and food festival that is the talk of the town.
It’s the International Festival, and 2011 is its 33rd year. The location is the quad of Claremont McKenna College and the event is on Saturday, April 9, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. And it’s free!
It features music and food from around the world with bands on a stage. There are more than a dozen performers and food from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, the Caribbean, China Ecuador, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Korea, Mexico, Morocco, the Netherlands, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey/Azerbaijan and Vietnam.
The event attracts more than 3,000 people from the college and the community.
