Playboy Founder Was A True American Hero For Single Men

A man who found, photographed and, well, slept with, some of the most stunning, beautiful women we have ever seen anywhere. And he let us look at them, too, in the full buff though photographs in his magazine.
At the same time, through the page of Playboy, he defined was a bachelor should be: classy, refined, well read, sophisticated and knowledgable of things from world politics to music to cars to gadgets.
And, of course, girls.
Hef gave us something to shoot for, an ultimate objective for what a single man should be in society.
Nobody I’ve ever met or known – myself included – ever came close to realizing this full bachelor potential. Tho we’ve all had our moments and when we or someone we know gets on a roll, we joke and say something like “this is what it must be like all the time for Hugh Hefner.”
At the same time, Hefner fought against a too-Puritan mentality in America that challenged society. For this, he was labeled a radical by some but revered by others, and he helped spark a sexual revolution in the USA.
“What I tried to do from the very beginning was give sex a good name,” he said.
He not only gave it a good name, he gave it an identity and he made it acceptable for bachelors like me all over the world to pursue it. At the same time, he provided the inspiration to pursue the good things in life, as well.
Cheers to ya Hef, from all of us bachelors.
