It’s Not Irvine Meadows But We’ll Settle For A Honda Center Concert Tailgate Party

Buffett is back!
And so will be the PubClub.com party bus, headed to the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA, on Saturday, Oct. 12, for tail end of the Jimmy Buffett 2019 concert tour.
So it’s not Irvine Meadows. That perfect Parrothead party place is now condos (with a park, no less) and this show is at an indoor venue but hey, Honda Center had a parking lot and it will have a Buffett tailgate party, which is the whole point of going to a Buffett show in the first place.
Honda Center will be just fine. Buffett played there once before and the PubClub party bus was there, of course. We filled it up and then some, for there was not room for a few latecomers and they hopped in a couple of people’s cars and followed the bus to Anaheim.
One of those people who drove was a girl I nicknamed Olive Oil. She was not much of a drinker and not a Buffett fan at all, but the Thursday before the show she called to say she wanted on the bus because everyone in the area was going and she suddenly had nothing to do on the weekend.

Too bad, you’re too late, I told her and she went went almost in protest. Well, a little Buffett tailgating can change one’s attitude as much as can latitude, and minutes after arriving I saw her and a girlfriend being whisked away through the parking lot sitting on a mobile tiki bar with tall drinks in their hands.
Olive Oil is now a huge Buffett fan and has vowed to be on the party bus this time.
I just hope the Anaheim cops allow Parrotheads to do what Parrotheads to at a Buffet show: party in the parking lot.
There will be buses, motorhomes, SUVs, big trucks and other vehicles with pop-up tiki bars and even quickly-made beaches in front of them. There will be the “Fin Spin” where girls spin a wheel to win prizes (all involving booze), men offering free drinks for women to show their breasts (many take them up on this offer) and rows and rows of partying at and in front of motorhomes.
In all, it’s great, great, fun.
And I can’t wait! Buffett has not played in Los Angeles the past two or three years and the party bus is needs to get rolling again.
Fins Up!
