Adjusting To Life During The Coronavirus Pandemic

I did something entertaining today – my laundry.
Normally this would rank only on my non-fun meter, but stuck at home with bars, restaurants and nightclubs all closed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, I am seeking what those in the sports world call “small victories.”
But hey it’s an activity and these days I’m have a pretty broad stroke when it comes to determining what is an activity and what is not one.
Going to the grocery store certainly qualifies as one. It’s today’s nightclub. I’m fascinated by what people clean off the shelves: toilet paper and all paper products, pasta, bread, certain (but not all) meats and eggs. Even potato chips. Potato chips!?
I now get excited to make dinner. What am I having tonite!? Last night, I tried some taco seasoning beef I had bought at the store. It came in a two-pound frozen tube, so I was hoping it was really good. While it looked tasty sizzling in the pan, that was about the only sizzle it had to it. Fortunately, I have some excellent salsa from a recent visit to El Tarasco so I was able to have a good meal.
The other day, a friend came over and helped me set up the PubClub YouTube channel on my TV. Now I can watch my favorite music videos on something other than my iPhone or laptop.
One thing I refuse to do is watch or read the news. Not only is it all doom and gloom it’s sensationalized. Headlines and reports are of pandemonium, panic and speculation with only a sliver of coverage being devoted to the positive things such as coronavirus cures and recoveries.
A local reporter actually said that if we don’t stay inside we “are going to die.” Now that’s the way to spread fear and panic; well done! Geez.
PubClub has been reporting on Spring Break in Florida for several weeks, yet only now is it being bashed by national and especially on social media.
So overall, these are hardly the most exciting times in our lives. But it’s the situation we are in now and while I miss Happy Hours, going to the bars and nightclubs and most especially talking with girls I don’t know (yet) I’ll deal with it.
I’ll be doing almost-daily posts right here on PubClub.com. Now if you’ll excuse me my laundry is ready.
Hang in there and cheers!
