Grand Tasting The Highlight Event Of Several Fun Events
When it comes to wine and food events, the perfect pairing of wine, food, spirits, craft beer, location (location, location!) and fun all comes together at the San Diego Bay Wine + Food Festival.
The 2018 event is Nov. 12-18 and yes, it’s a multi-day event. Mainly, tho, it’s two big events with cool little ones sprinkled in like parmesan cheese on top of pasta. The signature events are the Friday night (Nov. 16) tasting at the Marriott Marquis in San Diego Bay – this year called the Grand Decant – and the spectacular Grand Tasting on the Embarcadero on Saturday the 17th.
This festival is one of my favorite events of the year to cover and it’s like an annual rite of passage for people in San Diego. I get so excited by it I’m like Imelda Marcos in a shoe store.
It’s not just the wine, the beers the spirits and the food, it’s all of that combined together in a spot that’s as smile-friendly and happy as any place on the planet. San Diego is as sunny in its personality as it is in weather and is the prefect host for this event.
If you’ve been then you can relate to what I’m writing about and if you’ve not been, I strongly suggest you go on-line and get tickets, especially for the Grand Decant and without question for the Grand Tasting.
And don’t wait either – both of them sell out in advance.
So what awaits at this year’s event? Who knows, other than another great time. Last year the exhibitors threw a couple cool, new attractions at us for the Grand Tasting, a space-age looking sphere by Glenfiddich and the best-in-show tent from Monkey Shoulder scotch which had a jungle cage and in which you entered through an orange Port-o-Let.
Cheers!
