L.A. Bar Awards, Taco Tuesday & Wine On The Queen Mary

This is hardly the way I wanted to go into Memorial Day Weekend, beat up from a full week of partying activities that has me looking at the unofficial start of summer saying, “oh gosh, a three-day holiday!”
But when you are a blogger and reporter for PubClub.com, you’ve got to get out there and cover events you’re invited to, and those events often involve cocktails.
And so I find myself, heading into Memorial Day, having downed several drinks at the Time Out Los Angeles Bar Awards on a Monday night (hey, it was an open bar!), going through glasses of wine until they pulled up the bar during a press event on the Queen Mary to mark the 80th anniversary of her maiden voyage, and somehow squeezing in a Taco Tuesday.
It’s Thursday as I write this and of course I’m hoping to make this my “no alcohol” day. But the sun it out, two hot blondes in bikinis so tiny they are forcing me to watch them instead the screen as I type are playing beach volleyball in front of me, and it’s $5 pizza and 30% off for locals at one of the bars.
To say nothing of the Happy Hours that tempt me with special like $3 Kona Longboard drafts, $4 glasses of wine and a $5 “Drink of the Week” served by the sexy bartenders of the South Bay.
It’s times like this that I use that ‘ol line from a Jimmy Buffett song:
Where it all ends, I can’t fathom my friends. If I knew, I would toss out my anchor.
I can tell you where I’ll be tossing out my anchor on Memorial Day Weekend – in and around the beer garden at Fiesta Hermosa!
