What is a margarita?
Well, it’s a lot more than ingredients poured into a glass or into a blender. A margarita is a state of mind, a lifestyle, a celebration of the day’s accomplishments or of the joy of not having to accomplish anything on some days.
It is to beach bums (or wannabe beach bums) what a stage is to a musician, a cheering crowd is to an athlete, the Hollywood sign is to LA tourists.
Like Margaritaville itself, it is a not so much a thing as it is a state of mind.

That magical combination of tequila, triple sec and lime juice – salt or no salt!? – either on the rocks for blended with ice suddenly makes the troubles of the world evaporate like water on a humid day. Work and obligations are suddenly a million mental miles away.
It’s kick back time, toes between the sand, white stuff on the nose. Or it’s laughs with great friends or the instigator – oh, how tequila is an instigator! – of memorable moments being created on the spot.
I am often asked my ingredients for the perfect margarita. People expect me to list ingredients and a method for making it but instead the perfect margarita is where you enjoy it and with whom you enjoy it.
And that, folks, is the true definitation of what is a margarita.
