With an Early-Morning Broadcast in the USA, It’s Going to Be Breakfast at Westminster Abbey
Here’s a thought sports and party-going fans: Treat the Royal Wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton on April 29 like a sporting event.
Breakfast at Wimbledon? How about Breakfast at Westminster Abbey!?
Blow off work; after all why get left standing at the water cooler when some 750 million people around the world are tuning in (that’s the estimated figure for the last Royal Wedding, between Princess Diana and that guy with the funny ears and obviously poor vision).
Go to your local sports bar. Have Bloody Marys or mimosas.
Even make friendly Super Bowl-type of wagers with your friends, others in the bar, the waitresses and bartender. Such as whether or not all the talking heads on TV will all gush “oh, what a BEAUTIFUL wedding dress” at the same time when Kate first reveals it to the world.
Perhaps how many people in strange uniforms will be walking along side the Royal carriage.
The first sighting of the Queen Mother.
Or the first one of the couple to look lovingly into the other one’s eyes.
There’s one catch to this, tho; the event starts at 11:30 in the morning in London, which means 5:30 a.m., on the USA’s East Coast and 2:30 on the West Coast (darn, just after the bars have closed!. Well, consider an after-hours house party then! People in Hawaii will still be going strong on the bars, so they have the best situation). Still, it will go on for a few hours, so there’s little need to be there right at the start.
Give the Royal Couple a big cheers; heck, start a drinking game like “Hi Bob” where you take a drink every time someone holds up the train of Kate’s dress. This is such a big deal because it’s entertainment, so why not make it more entertaining to watch.
It really doesn’t matter which network to watch, as all will likely be sharing the same feed.
