Girls Doing Selfies. Social Media & Texting Making It Tough On Single Men
Girls using smartphones in bars are killing my sex life.
How? Why?
Simple. Before smartphones became an essential part of our nightlife accessories, it used to be that one of the best ways to pick up girls was to establish eye contact. You would look at her and if she looked back, you started an “eye conversation,” which was your cue to go over and talk to her.
Who needs a pickup line when you’re halfway to picking her up with eye contact?
You could do this from across the room or across the length of the actual bar. It was way better than trying to use an opening line because with eye contact, you’ve got a connection. Sometimes, girls would even give you a look that pretty much said “come on over,” and I’ve turned several of those looks into great nights of sex.
But now, it’s impossible to get any eye contact with girls because they all have their faces in their smartphones. They are taking selfies, posting pics on Instagram, checking in on Facebook making it appear to all in the outside world that they are having a great time, when in fact they are often bored.
And when they have done all the posts they can on social media, then they start texting their girlfriends. Especially if they are bored.
Well girls, if you would look up, look around and talk with people you may not be so bored!
Bars are social places. They are fun hangouts, meccas for meeting people. But it’s next to impossible to meet girls when you can’t look at them and of course you can’t interrupt them during their social media posting and texting.
That would be worse than approaching them with a cheezy pick-up line.
In this challenging singles society, I have managed to work in a couple of ice-breakers by offering to take the photo when girls are going for selfies. Also, when they are messaging a friend I say “there’s no need to text me; I’m right here!” The latter usually gets a chuckle but usually they go back to, well texting.
So I’m out there girls. And I’ll keep my eyes out for you. Even tho you may not be looking at my eyes.
