7 Ultimate Tips When Planning A Camping Trip

November 1, 2021 by kevinwilkerson Leave a Comment

There are several mistakes’ newbies mistake whenever they go camping. Here are tips and points to consider that will help your trip go smoothly. Keep reading.

Take Extra Fuel

Whether you are planning to cook over a grill or use a fire to cook your food, it wouldn’t hurt to bring extra fuel with you. In case a disaster strikes or you miscalculated and you finish up all your fuel, you would still have enough to be able to cook. Be sure to pack this extra fuel separate from the others, so that if something happens to the rest, this one won’t be affected.

Check the Weather

The biggest rookie mistake you could make is not looking at the weather. Although weather forecasts are not entirely accurate, they give you a good idea of what you can expect. You may plan your camping trip on a weekend that a tropical storm is going to hit.

Certain times of the year would be better for camping than others. Depending on where you live, these times of the year would differ. However, check when this would be for your area.

Dress for the Weather

Speaking of the weather, you may not be dressed appropriately for the weather that you’d be experiencing. If it’s going to snow, you’ll not only need clothes to keep you warm but quality snowshoes as well. There’s no way you would be able to hike, otherwise. If it’s especially hot, you will need breathable clothes.

Navigation

How easy would where you’ll be camping be to navigate? If you’re a newbie, it won’t be smart to choose a campsite that’s hard to navigate. You would easily get lost. Look through reviews and see what parks and locations others have recommended for someone of your skill level to camp in.

While on the topic of not getting lost, make sure the map you bring of the area is also brand new and updated.

You may benefit from camping in a special camping park. It wouldn’t be dangerous, as you would be hundreds of other campers. These parks have wi-fi and bathrooms as well, which is a plus.

Get Your Rest

There’s no way you’d be able to hike and hunt without getting your rest. Unfortunately, you might find it difficult to sleep outdoors – no one would blame you. However, the sleeping bag you get will affect your quality of sleep. You can easily find sleeping bags online so go through reviews to see which would be the best. There are special multi-roomed tents that are like mini-houses. They will keep you the most protected from the elements and might be the most worth your time too.

Be Picky With Sellers

Whatever the camping gear it is that you’re thinking of buying, it would be a good idea to research your seller first. Don’t work with just anyone, as you don’t want your gear to fail on you on the job. You won’t go wrong if you get your camping gear and equipment from famous Canadian retailer, WoodsCanada.

A Good Cool Box

Splurge on a good quality cool box. They can keep frozen food good for around 5 days. If you’ll be camping for more than just 2-3 days, this would be appreciated. A pro tip would be to freeze whatever you’re placing in the cool box before you leave home. This would help them last longer.
