Trump Team Gets Wrong Location As President Fights Election Results
The Donald Trump-led press conference at Four Seasons Total Landscaping in Philadelphia instead of the Four Seasons hotel was total PR blunder that has further eroded the President’s claims that the election was illegal.
Not only was the location hardly fitting for a president – a parking lot in industrial area next to, of all things, an adult store – it has provided comical relief for news organizations to poke fun at Trump’s false claims about the election results.
“Four Seasons Total Landscaping’s rise to fame was as precipitous as it was, to the world, hilarious.” wrote The Guardian.
In fact, it’s a become a joke everywhere. In the good ‘ol American spirit of taking advantage of a business opportunity when one was dropped into its lap, the landscaping company is selling stickers and clothing with the slogans “Make America Rake Again,” and “LAWN AND ORDER.”
This started when Donald Trump sent out a Tweet on Saturday stating would be a “big press conference” at the Four Seasons in Philadelphia. He later Tweeted that it would be at Four Seasons Total Landscaping and not the glittering downtown hotel of a similar name.
To make a further mess of the situation– providing the media with more laughable copy – Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s personal attorney who was sent to conduct the press conference, was told during the event that Biden had won the election.
This was a PR blunder and total embarrassment, and it shows the danger of having a press event in a quick-reaction matter rather than thinking it out ahead of time.
There’s nothing wrong with holding an event in reaction to something negative but good Public Relations involves analyzing the pros and cons of doing it and if you go ahead with it, to be sure you get it right.
In this case, it has turned Trump’s claims into a laughing matter for the media, as well as for those who voted for Joe Biden. Sometimes in PR, it’s better to keep your mouth shut rather than doing something stupid.
