When Weekends Are The Same As Mondays
We are living in a time when Saturdays are the same as Mondays, when there is no such thing as Hump Day and looking forward to the weekend means doing the same thing we did the rest of the week.
This is life in the era of the COVD-19 pandemic. Not only are bars, restaurants, amusement parks, movie theaters and all other forms of entertainment closed, but there are no events, either.
The toughest part about obeying the #stayhome orders is this: looking forward to something to do or watch.
Usually, there’s some type of activity that gets us charged up for a day ahead of of us. It could be meeting friends out for dinner and drinks, a hot date for us single people, a fun festival, or just making it to the weekend. No work!
Except now there’s none of those things happening these days. And with no sports, fans such as myself can’t even looking forward to watching a big game on TV. Or going to one. All the sports channels are showing replays and not even good ones – does the SEC Network and ESPNU not realize there are far better games to show than constantly feeding us women’s basketball!? Heck, only true fans even watched it live.
Now, about all we can have is some friends getting together for cocktails over a Zoom meeting.
Heck, we don’t even have hangovers to fear now. Those kind where you spend all day laying on the couch watching bad TV until you stagger up at dinner time? No problem! That’s what we’re doing every day now.
What’s the most important thing in our house or apartment now? Food? Drinking water? Toilet paper!? Heck no, it’s a well-stocked bar.
That and a good Internet connection.
So until this is over the only thing we have to look forward to is this thing being over and getting back to normal.
Until then, see you on a Zoom chat.
