Some Of The Most Expensive Destinations May Surprise You
Let’s face it, we all love the idea of spending a small fortune on a lavish summer holiday, jetting off around the world to somewhere luxurious to lie on golden beaches, whiz down white alpine peaks or even shop until you drop on cobbled old streets.
It was therefore quite the surprise that in a recent survey of 3,000 holiday makers, focusing on just how they would spend £1,000,000 (about $1,300,000)- that only 4% of Americans would decide to make the first thing they do a fancy holiday.
We’ve done the legwork, and using the holiday website Hoppa for these select few, and found out some of the most expensive holiday destinations… take a look at the potentially surprising results below:
#1.) Zurich, Switzerland
A real surprise result for us here, but with an average hotel for two costing $205, a meal for two notching the scales at nearly $100 and after dinner cocktails costing $17.46- you are left with a spend of $322.46 a night!
While you are there be sure to check out Kunsthaus art gallery, take a stroll down the Niederdorf before finishing with a beer at El Lokal.
#2.) New York
Fancy somewhere closer to home? The big apple comes in at the second most expensive destination. Hotel $224, Dinner $81 and cocktails $15 leading to a total spend of $320 a night.
Fancy spending more on a hotel? Why not stay at the Four Seasons for $1,265 a night.
#3.) Copenhagen
Another odd destination to make the expensive list, the capital of Denmark clocks in at $193.60 for the hotel, $85.99 for dinner and then $13.75 for a cocktail, bringing the total to: $293.34
