Legendary Rock Group Celebrates 50th Anniversary With Remake of ‘Some Girls’ Album and, Possibly, A Tour
Miss you.
That’s what many fans are saying about the Rolling Stones and the legendary rock group might be together again in 2012.
Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and drummer Charlie Watts rehearsed together in November in London. This is on the heels of a re-vamped release of the 1978 album “Some Girls,” the one that includes the hits “Miss You,” “Beast of Burden” and “Shattered.” And now comes word that Richards and Mick Jagger are meeting in December to discuss a potential tour with AEG.
There is also a DVD and Blu-ray of the concert film “Some Girls Live in Texas ’78,” with a dozen songs previously unreleased. There are two versions of this, a two-disc one costing $20 and a boxed-set edition that includes a hard-cover book and vinyl single.
The Stones also released “Exile on Main Street” in 2010, which provided new twists on old songs. So there’s definitely activity that’s starting them up these days.
But what about a tour? Richards is not saying yes, but he’s also not saying no.
“I know (talk of a tour) it’s an all-important point but there’s nothing more I’m going to say about that,” he told the Los Angeles Times. “It always comes easy once you get the bunch of guys together.
“It’s the getting the guys together that’s the hard part.”
So stay tuned. The Stones will never be your Beast of Burden, but after 50 years, times is not exactly on their side.
