A Top Summertime Event In BC Near Whistler

I remember a few years ago, a Canadian friend put me in his car and drove me from where he lived in Whistler to what seemed to be the end of the earth.
For all I knew at the time, as I looked around and saw nothing but a vast and empty land, this was the end of the earth.
He had taken me to a place called Pemberton and declared it as where he was going to be moving to at some point in the future.
For the life of me, I could not figure out why; after all, he’s a refined fellow who has lived in Vancouver, Victoria , even Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. And he was in Whistler! In Pemberton, I saw nothing. And I mean nothing.
I recall a couple of small buildings but not a soul was around and if there was, I expected it to be a guy on a horse who would ride up, ask us to roll down the window and say something like, “you lost? You folks are not from around these parts, are you?”
Well come to find out that Pemberton actually not only has life, it has a lot of it at one particular time of the year. Each summer there’s the Pemberton Music Festival, a massive event with big-name bands, 30 acts per day and a party scene that apparently will make you forget about pretty much anything else in the world.
Certainly on this weekend anyway.
My friend did not so much as invite me up to it but demand I go this year. Of course, he knows how much I love to party in Canada and be around Canadians and is certainly aware of one of my great weaknesses, that being Canadian women.
The event looks unreal the kind of thing where you don’t ask questions, you just jump on a plane and go to it.
So come July 2017, I could be back in Pemberton. It will certainly prove to be a far different scene than my first visit.
A huge music festival turns this remote area 30 minutes from Whistler into a big party scene, something PubClub’s blogger may need to see for himself.
