There’s Certainly No PreParty Margaritaville At This Concert Venue
Looks like the blenders won’t be churning in Albuquerque before the Jimmy Buffett concert.
His show at the Isleta Amphitheater on Tuesday, Oct. 20, will be without the usual Parrothead preparty because a New Mexico state law prohibits drinking in parking lots.
And as any Parrothead know, the whole Jimmy Buffett concert experience revolves around the tailgate party.
You go hours ahead of time, people set up portable tiki bars, huge blenders churning out margaritas and other alcoholic concoctions are served and consumed by friendly folks dressed in straw hats, grass skirts and other tropical attire.
The venue should push the state to lift the ban for one night.
Still, there’s an alternative. There IS a pre-party at the First Turn Lounge & Patio at the Downs Racetrack and Casino.
There’s live entertainment but you must buy your own food and drinks. Plus, there’s a $20 cover.
These are things you don’t have to worry about in the parking lot because everyone brings everything they consume and people wind up giving you margaritas, boat drinks and perhaps even a cheeseburger.
That party goes from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Additionally, there are Parrotheads flocking at restaurants, bars, hotels and even block parties where streets have been blocked off to traffic.

Why in the world would they not allow Parrotheads to tailgate!?

There is a concert on May 11 in North Charleston, SC. I’m hearing rumours the police won’t allow tailgating there either. Might anyone know where the “party” will be held?
