“Tryin’ To Reason…” Show Benefits Florida Keys, The Caribbean & British Virgin Islands
The fins were up and the wallets were out as Parrotheads purchased so many tickets so fast that a benefit concert for victims of hurricanes Irma and Maria sold out in 11 minutes.
It’s the “Tryin’ To Reason…” show featuring Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Chesney and Toby Keith, set for Nov. 19 in Tallahassee, FL.
It takes place at the 12,500-seat Donald L Tucker Civic Center on the campus of Florida State University. People had to act fast to get tickets, leaving many seeking tickets stranded, to to speak, like at the dock when your friends on the boat take off without you.
Fans are suggesting that a second show be added, that the concert be televised and a DVD be produced and released, all to provide further benefits to the victims. The areas were flattened by the hurricanes, leaving homes and businesses needing supplies and money to rebuild and then tourists to come visit those rebuilt businesses.
As a result, a lot of people want to see Jimmy, Keith and Toby but are also anxious to contribute to the relief efforts of the Florida Keys and the Caribbean (including Puerto Rico), which is where funds from this show are headed to help rebuild after the hurricanes. With margaritas and boat drinks handy, of course.
Buffett, as any Parrothead knows, became famous while living in Key West, Florida, and spent a lot of his early years in the Florida Keys. He also spent a lot of time sailing around the Caribbean, and the British Virgin Islands in particular.
Chesney is also a frequent visitor to the BVIs; he was at the Soggy Dollar Bar on New Year’s Day about the same time as PubClub.com, tho we were a bit later getting there after spending NYE at Foxy’s.
