Fins Up For Shows At The Hollywood Bowl And Verizon Irvine
If you feel the earth shake in Los Angeles this week, it’s likely not from an earthquake.
It’s the Parrotheads loading up on party buses and heading out to hear Jimmy Buffett.
Party Buses & Tiki Bars
The popular Trop/Rock singer has two shows in L.A. He plays Thursday night at the Hollywood Bowl and follows that up at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, which Buffett fans affectionally still call Irvine Meadows.
The Hollywood Bowl is an iconic location for concerts in Los Angeles. However, it pales in comparison to what will happen on Saturday as party buses – including one from Hermosa Beach with PubClubClub.com – and motorhome roll in and set up bars in the parking lot hours before Buffett takes the stage.
And it is that tailgating experience that makes Buffett shows such a spectacle. There are tiki bars, churning blenders, even bands. “If we couldn’t laugh, we would all go insane,” as the song line goes, is the mantra for the day.
People dress the part, too; they wear tropical attire, down to coconut bras and grass skirts.
It’s all about Margaritaville, Fins, Volcanos and all the other elements that make up a Bufffet show.
And all of Los Angeles is buzzing about both shows. People are looking to slip out of work early Thursday and spending this week building elaborate bars and props for Saturday.
If little work gets done in Los Angeles this week, then there’s not a woman to blame, as Buffett sings in “Margaritaville,” but Buffett himself.
And the Parrotheads.
