Breakfast Inspired Liqueurs Mama Walker’s A Big Hit At Party

I was sent bottles of creative new liqueurs to sample, write about and review. The products are Mama Walker’s  breakfast-inspired liqueurs and they have creative titles like Blueberry Pancake, Maple Bacon and the lively-named Glazed Donut.

They can be enjoyed as part of a mixed drink – recipes are on the bottle labels – or as straight-up shots.

Now normally what happens here is that I review the press release, taste samples, carefully mix cocktails like a lab scientist, form an opinion and post a blog.

But with this, I decided to take a different approach. PubClub.com was hosting a house party on a sunny Sunday afternoon and lined the bottles up prominently on the in-house tike bar. I knew this would attract attention and I decided I would let the guests be my reviewers.

Better to take the masses of proven drinkers than just one person, even an expert such as myself.

And let me say that they were a huge hit. The names got people’s attention so they immediately grabbed bottles. And forget any mixing for cocktails; everyone grabbed shot glasses!

“Mmmm, BACON,” they would say while rounding up a few friends in near proximity and doing shots.

“Hey, that DOES taste like a Blueberry pancake.”

“Glazed Donut? We HAVE to have a shot of it!”

 

We were able to surmise that, in order, the strength of the liqueurs are in this order: Blueberry Pancake, Maple Bacon and the conversation-starting Glazed Donut.

And strong they are, for they brought sudden life to anyone who did a shot. That includes yours truly, who was serving as bartender.

Later, as the night wore and the crowd thinned to a few neighbors, we broke out a shaker and had chilled shots. The shaker is a bar tool I rarely have used it. It was a gift from a former girlfriend and I had been hesitant to tell her that it sat idle on a shelf instead of in full action behind the bar.

Now, however, Mama Walker’s has brought me renewed vigor for using the shaker.
