#ItsRumTime Celebrates Historical Achievements With, Well, Rum
Celebrating 450 years of making and drinking rum, the Rums of Puerto Rico have created a series of brief historical videos in partnership with History.com, the History Channel’s website.
The well-produced videos talk about major inventions – the camera, the incandescent light bulb, the various balls used in sports, then show a celebration in an old San Juan fort involving – you guessed it – rum.
“People talk about these life-changing historic events, but nobody talks about the big parties to celebrate them,” the narrator says. “Well, that’s my job.”
Curtains then part and action switches to people partying.
Each webisode is just three minutes in length and so far, the series has reached more than three million people on line and on various several digital platforms. It was recently showcased by the Puerto Rico Film Commission as part of its participation on the American Film Market.
You can see all the episodes, called “Rum Times,” at: itsrumtime.com.
PubClub attended one of the celebration parties, tho not in San Juan but in Los Angeles, where the latest webisode, “The Motion Picture” about the the invention of the camera and its evolution towards cinema, was shown to a rum-drinking crowd. Read our blog about the rum event.
The Rums of Puerto Rico includes Bacardi, Don Q, Ron del Barrilito, Ron Llave and Palo Viejo.
