Complementary Cocktails Are Good Compensation For Being Delayed

Delayed flights.
Sitting in airports, on the floor or in a chair at the gate, waiting, waiting and waiting for your flight to board. Missing appointments, meetings or just spending time at the destination. It’s the bane of travelers around the world.
Uggg.
After having every single flight of mine delayed the past year (I’m not joking by the way; are airlines simply not taking this seriously anymore!?), I have a demand: for every half hour the flight is delayed I am entitled to one free drink.
That’s right, a complimentary cocktail.
The way it is now, passengers get nothing. Zero. Zilch. On one of my flights that was delayed more than an hour, there was never any mention of it by the gate agent or the flight crew.
And frankly, it’s a little annoying when they say something anyway because it’s always in a tone that seems to suggest “we don’t really give a crap that we’re making you wait but our airline policy states we must say something. Plus, I just love making annoying announcements to waiting passengers. Now, if you have a carry-on bag we have to check it because the overhead bins are already full, even though the plane isn’t at the gate yet.”
This, while by chance if the plane is at the gate on time and you’re not in your seat 10 minutes early, they will bump you off of it, even if you’re in the airport and rushing to make a connection. It’s another dirty little trick the airlines play on their passengers.
The airline and employees expect us to take this laying down but I’m sick and tired of it. If the flight is delayed at the gate for more than an hour, tell everyone to go to the nearest bar for a comped cocktail and if it’s two hours or more late, then everything is on the house.
For those who don’t want a drink or are too young to have a drink or can’t have a drink, the airline should offer a complimentary snack or sandwich, whatever they have on board, if the flight is delayed an hour.
Or complimentary WiFi if the plane has it.
With this PubClub.com policy in place, having a delayed flight won’t be such a frustrating experience.
