On The Road To The Highway One Discovery Route Destinations

It is time to pack the bags again for another trip for this travel blogger.
This time I’m not going to the airport but rather jumping in the car and driving up the California coast.
I’m headed out from PubClub.com World Headquarters in Hermosa Beach (which is part of Los Angeles) and going to a few small towns along the Central California coast. Specifically the destination is Cayucos, between Pismo Beach to the south and Cambria to the north.
It’s part of the Highway One Discovery Route of the Golden State, which includes half a dozen locations, including San Simeon and the grand Hearst Castle.
This is gorgeous country, at the start of Pacific Coast Highway, one of the best and most scenic coastal drives in the world. Myself and my PubClub associate Rick will be departing on a Monday morning and returning Wednesday afternoon.
Since we hope to bypass the LA morning commute traffic, we will go up the coast on Pacific Coast Highway through Malibu, roll past the gorgeous views when we cross the Ventura County line, onto Highway 101 through Ventura, then back over to PCH at Morro Bay.
It should take about five hours.
The press trip includes all of this scenery, a tour of Heart Castle, plus lunch and dinner in cool local restaurants and – what may turn out to be my favorite part – wine tasting! The Highway One Discovery Route is on the edge of the fantastic Central California wine country of Paso Robles.
And of course, a nice hotel is included in our FAM (familiarity) trip.
I’m really looking forward to this trip – and blogging and vlogging about it afterward, which is why I was invited in the first place – for more than a few reasons.
First, it’s a gorgeous location. Secondly, this is an area I have rarely visited so I’m very anxious to see and learn about it. The last time I was here was several years ago when my parents came out from Tennessee to drive with me up the coast. About all I remember about Hearst Castle is a very long driveway, a swimming pool (that I understand is now drained because it was leaking) and some zebras grazing around its grounds.
And finally, there’s wine tasting!
Be sure and come back to PubClub.com to see my posts from the trip and onto the PubClub YouTube channel to view the videos.
Cheers!
