Spoiled Locals Complain And For Good Reason

A beautiful weekend day, sunny and in the mid-60s in February, and someone posts this on Facebook:
“Waking up to the rain? Complete BS! So over this!”
Okay, so it rained early in the morning. I heard it and did not get out of bed. By the time I walked outside, it was bright and sunny.
But this is thing: people who live in California will bitch about the weather even when it’s nice. They will talk about all the rain we’ve had this winter (they will do this even when we get to the summer), how the past couple of days were cloudy, how it’s too hot (above 80 degrees) or too windy or too cold (below 70 degrees).
Why?
Well it the weather is so perfect 90% of the time that everyone get spoiled. Most of the time its 75 and sunny with no humidity and a light breeze. Nobody has air conditioning at the beach and few ever turn on the heat. It’s perfect.
I bitch myself when things are not perfect myself. When I first moved here, I was quiet about it but after living here for several years it’s just part of being a Californian.
And I don’t think that after all this winter rain we’ve been having subsides and we’re living in our usual brilliant sunshine and warmth, that the people will truly appreciate it. I think they will complain about it being too something, instead of being appreciative of living in a place that has some of the best weather in the world.
So if you’re traveling here, marveling at the fantastic weather and you hear locals complaining, don’t look at them as if they are crazy.
Just know they have lived in California long enough to be spoiled by the weather.
Cheers!
