Bitten By The Travel Bug Already In 2019

I’m jealous.
Some of my friends, including PubClub Travel Tales writer Eric Stone, are on a sailboat in the British Virgin Islands. They are cruising around, island hopping from great beach bar to beach bar with warm weather and deep-blue seas all around them.
I have another friend blasting down the ski slopes in Whistler. Another friend who was at this past weekend’s Pebble Beach Pro-Am in gorgeous Pebble Beach, CA. And more friends who went as a big group to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl.
Me? I’ve been nowhere.
Granted it’s only mid-February but the travel bug has bitten me and bitten me hard. I want to go someplace!
My go-to getaway is to Carmel and Monterey, a day’s drive up either scenic Highway 101 from Los Angeles or the super-scenic Highway 1. But my buddy who has a sailboat I stay on in Monterey Bay is out of town (he’s with Eric in the BVIs, the lucky guy) so that’s out for now.
I have a pilot friend who lives in Vegas and is always bugging me to go there (I also have a pretty and single gal pal who lives in Vegas) and that’s always a possibility, tho driving there now is not much of an option because of the wet and cold weather we’re having here in L.A., which has actually seen the I-15 through the El Cajon Pass closed a couple of times this year.
If this were past years, I would be preparing to jump into one of the many vehicles headed to Mammoth Mountain for President’s Day Weekend. That used to be an annual ritual for several of us single people in the singles cities of Hermosa & Manhattan Beach. But most of those people are not single anymore and nobody goes to Mammoth as a group.
Which is a real bummer because we had some pretty good times on that mountain.
But don’t worry, I’ll go somewhere soon enough. It’s just when that travel bug bites you, you want to get moving somewhere. Anywhere
Cheers!
