Bracket Busters And Buzzer Beaters Can Be A Real Experience For Travelers To USA

If you’re not from the States and are traveling in America the last two weeks of March, you may curious as to what is going on here.
Chances are you will be be seeing men in business suits screaming like kids at the various TVs while having long lunches at restaurants.
Later, and particularly on the weekends, you’ll see people wearing sports teams jerseys piling into bars, where the quiet surroundings will suddenly be interrupted by big roars of people cheering yet also groaning.
On the news, the Internet, in newspapers and all over the TVs you will be hearing two words that have the captive attention of the nation.
What you have walked into is a party that is uniquely American. It is known, quite simply, as March Madness.
What it is, is a four-week collegiate men’s basketball tournament. It has become such a phenomenon that people fill out brackets in hopes of winning a few dollars in an office or friends’ pool, or potentially thousands in high-stakes pools.
The reason it’s such a phenomenon, and why it’s called March Madness in the first place, is that it is impossible to pick the winners. That is because the first round is, well madness. There are upsets all over the place – no-name schools taking down big powers – that there is a term for those teams: bracket busters.
There are also many close games that often go down to the last shot there is a term for that, as well: buzzer beaters.
As a result, March Madness is incredibly exciting. Most of the people are pulling for teams the picked in their bracket with no team allegiance.
My advice is to take in this part of America as you would going to a major tourist attraction. It will provide you with a different look at this country.
Cheers!
