California Dreamin’ On A Summer’s Day

I was driving myself somewhat crazy because I couldn’t think of anything to write about for today’s daily travel blog post.
It happens to writers in all fields from time to time, of course, but I could feel something about to burst out of my brain to my fingers but it was blocked for some reason. Whatever world destination that was to me my subject would simply not reveal itself.
So I shrugged my shoulders and went to the beach. I swam in the Pacific, took for a bike ride along the beachfront bike path, watched as the nightly volleyball class took up the court in front of me and settled in along The Strand to take in the sunset.
Suddenly, I realized I had something to write about and that was right here!
Sometimes, it’s hard to see the forest for the trees. We’re thinking of something big and bold in the distance, yet what we really need is right tin front of us.
Basically, I took a staycation. And you know what – here in Hermosa Beach, one of the South Bay Beach Cities in Los Angeles – is a great staycation location.
In fact, I have two friends who spend their entire vacation time right here. They live here and have the time and money to go anywhere in the world, yet they stay in Hermosa.
Personally, that would be a bit confining for me but on days like this it’s perfect. I did not drive my car, experience any LA traffic or go near a freeway. I did a lot of the the same things people do on vacation at the beach, except this was a stacation because I live here.
Now if you’ll excuse me, some girls in bikinis are playing beach volleyball in front of me, sunset is arriving soon and I need a cocktail.
Cheers!
