Why This Shoulder Season Can Be A Peak Season For Travelers

Summertime is the top time to travel but in many ways, fall is the best time to travel.
Here’s five reasons you should keep your suitcase within easy reach during the autumn season.
1.) It’s The Off-Peak Travel Time And That Means Savings
With airline seats available and hotel rooms vacant, some of the best travel deals of the year can be found in the fall. If you keep checking airline fares, you can probably fly from between the USA and Europe for between $500-800. You can get good deals from the mainland to Hawaii, too, and hotel prices can be as much as half as what they are in the summer.
2.) You Can More Easily Meet And Interact With Locals
Think about it – if you visit a place in the summertime a lot of locals won’t be there because, well, they are on holiday, too. Personally, I like interacting with people who live in a place and want to be in a place when they are there, and the fall is when you can meet a lot of locals.
3.) The Weather Is Generally More Pleasant Than The Hot Summer
Nothing wears you down when traveling like hot weather. Lines for museums seem longer and more miserable than any other time of the year, tempers grow short on both ends of the tourism spectrum and if you’re like me, I tend to forget a planned visit to a particular site or even a bar/restaurant in exchange for the first place with air conditioning I can find. Generally, you won’t have that issue when traveling in the fall, but of course you may also have to pack more and heavier clothes in the suitcase.
4.) It’s Football Season In The USA
Ahh, football season. College campuses. And NFL games. This alone is reason enough to travel in America during the fall. Even if you don’t go into the game, go to the campus or around the stadium. Take part in the tailgate party and enjoy the atmosphere. It’s unlike anything you can experience anywhere else in the world and it only happens in the fall.
5.) Everything – Attractions, Restaurants – Are Less Crowded In The Fall
Some popular places, like the Louvre Museum in Paris, are going to have lines not matter what season you go to it, but other big attractions are less crowded in the fall than in the summer. Also, it’s easier to walk into a restaurant and get a table, especially in popular summertime tourist destinations. Do you just hate, after a long day of being on your feet, having to stand around to sit down in a restaurant? You likely won’t have that issue in the fall.
So I’ll see you on the road this fall, right!?
Cheers!
