It’s Movies, Music & A Party
Normally during the winter, Park City, Utah, is full of people blasting down white-power slopes on skis and snowboards.
But for one week week of January each year, the chair lifts and ski runs are nearly empty (so if you want no lift lines, it’s a great time to go there). Instead of two-plankers and shredders, Park City is filled with filmmakers, actors, celebrities, corporations fans and social souls looking for the best party.
It’s the Sundance Film Festival, Jan. 24-Feb. 3 in 2019,
Sundance is a series of films from independent filmmakers and thousands of them are shown at 13 venues around town. Additionally, corporations host events to showcase their technology and cool gadgets. Click here for information on some of these you can attend if you’re at Sundance.
Tickets are required for see the films in the official venues and the cost just $20. You can go for waitlist tickets for $15 and if you’ don’t get in, then you don’t pay.
In addition to films, there’s a lot of music at Sundance. There is the Sundance ASCAP Music Cafe (open daily 2-6 p.m.,) the Celebration of Music in Film – Blinded by the Light (Saturday, Jan, 26, 7-10 p.m.) and BMI Snowball (Tuesday, Jan. 29) 8-10 p.m., for emerging and recognizable musicians.
This is in addition to bands in most of the bars along the mile stretch of restaurants, bars and shops on Main Street.
What Sundance is, of course, a good reason for people to gather for a happening, to meet, mingle, network and party. And make no mistake, Sundance is a party.
Speaking of parties, just a few months ago, Park City set the World’s Longest Ski Shot record. So know when you go there no matter what time of the year, you’ll going to find a party.
