A Post-Holidays Return To Airplanes & Airports

I made it home for the holidays.
Without incident or any delays, either.
But now that Christmas has come and gone, I have to return to where I live, and that means a return to airports and airplanes. To lines and crowds and TSA agents and fellow passengers, some of whom are not exactly people I would choose to hang out with on a daily basis.
I love being home for the holidays with the family but I don’t necessarily enjoy traveling during the holidays. It seems everyone is in a rush more so than usual and are too focused in their own world to engage in even small talk when you’re sitting next to them.
Since I have an outgoing personality, it’s not in my nature to shut off the outside world, but that’s what I generally do during holiday travel. So in the airports and on the planes, I tend to sit quietly and say nothing, except for a “thank you” or “have a nice day” to gate agents, flight attendants, pilots and anyone else who assists me in getting from my departure to my destination.
Hopefully all goes smoothly on the return trip but, of course, when you travel this time of the year in America, weather is always a potential factor in flights, flight delays and the ease (or not) of the journey. I have to travel cross-country, from East Tennessee to Southern California, and must always make a connecting flight.
I have learned not to make my connection through cities likely to be hit by snow, ice and bad weather. That is why I avoid going to Chicago and Cincinnati. I prefer the Southern route, which takes me through Dallas or Nashville when on American Airlines or Atlanta when flying on Delta.
Weather, of course, is hardly ever a factor in my final destination of Los Angeles.
The Rose Bowl is, tho. That can often fill flights to beyond capacity, but at least fans – usually from Midwestern schools eager to escape their freezing weather for the warmth and sunshine of L.A. – are in a jovial mood and can liven up a flight.
Cheers and safe holiday travels from PubClub.com!
