Giving Thanks For All The Positive Things In Life (And Now Please Pass The Turkey)

Let’s take a serious moment here to pause for, well, a moment.
I’m writing this for Thanksgiving Day in the USA, and wanted to take a moment to give thanks for all the great things I have in my life. Hey, not everything is perfect; it never is, right? But I have great friends, a wonderful and caring family back home and a pretty good lifestyle because of the opportunities presented to me by PubClub.com.
Even if you are not an American or in America, I encourage you to pause and give thanks for what you have and the positive things in your life.
Thanksgiving in the USA – despite all the food, commercialism and platter upon platter of football games presented all weekend, as pointed out in this blog post – really is a celebration of all that is good with us at the moment. It is a gathering of family and/or friends to give thanks for having those family and friends, for the things we have and for the positive support we receive from others.
It is an American custom and I encourage everyone to pause at some point during the year (heck more than once a year) and give thanks for these things.
I spend Thanksgiving with friends in Southern California. It’s too far to go back to be with my family in Tennessee, especially since I go back for Christmas (although my mom would like me to be there for both holidays!).
We gather at someone’s house or apartment, go through several bottles of wine and sit down for a big feast of “turkey and all the trimmings” as we describe the food on this day. Then we burp and watch the football games.
But the important part of it all is that we are all together and while we don’t say or think it often enough, we truly do give thanks for being fortunate enough to be able to celebrate Thanksgiving Day.
Happy Thanksgiving from PubClub.com!
